I am a west coast cartoonist, and I draw the daily "TEN CATS" comic strip on www.gocomics.com and am a cartoonist for The Vancouver Sun. My cartoon collections are available through Gryndstone and Fusspot Press and Ronsdale Press. I also create commemorative posters for corporate events, meetings and sponsorships. And I love to give people a laugh - that's what it's all about! View more posts

My sister, who died in Jan at 75, got her first Taurus way back when she lived in Petaluma. It was used. She drove it until someone crashed into her near Petaluma. Then she got a second used one and drove until it gave up the ghost. Her last one was also used, a 2004 that she got after she moved to PA. That’s the one I had to get rid of when I went back to take care of her affairs in Feb. Like me, she kept a binder with EVERYTHING ever done to her car; 90% of it was done by a local mechanic who wouldn’t charge her for little things like fuses. Anyway, I found Al, told him of her death and asked if he knew how I could get rid of the car. He said he would take it. He did that a lot and would fix them up then give them to young people just starting out in jobs who needed a reliable ride. I couldn’t find her original title so had to go to the PA DMV and pay for a new one, which I gave to Al. He still needed an original death cert (which takes about 5 weeks to get) but he took the keys and got it from her apartment. He kept it at his shop until I got the death cert and sent it to him. One of the things I brought back from PA was our fathers’ USMC locker box from WW2. When I opened it, I found her car binder! It had all of the work ever done on the car AND the original title. I called Al and he wanted the binder so I sent it to him. Sandy was a member of a Taurus club and I was going to notify all of them about her death. Turns out, once I told two of the guys, they spread the word so I didn’t have to. The final part to this story? When I handed Al the keys, he handed me $500. I told him he didn’t need to but he insisted.
And that’s my Taurus story.
Thanks for sharing your story about Sandy and the Taurus – touching…..
God bless,
Graham
